We’re about to embark on an inspiring educational journey that challenges you to think globally and act locally. Throughout this course, you will explore each of the 17 SDGs—goals designed to address issues such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and more. By understanding these global challenges, you’ll learn how your actions, no matter how small, can contribute to a better world.
Students will engage with the SDGs through various activities, including creating a personalised booklet, participating in community projects, and reflecting on how these global goals can be achieved locally. This course offers a unique opportunity to learn outside the conventional classroom setting, developing not only knowledge but also a sense of responsibility and purpose alongside 21st Century Skills.
Critical Thinking: Analyse and understand the global challenges presented by the SDGs and explore practical solutions.
Creative Problem Solving: Develop innovative approaches to address specific SDGs through projects and activities.
Collaboration: Work with peers to share ideas, support each other’s projects, and contribute to group tasks.
Communication: Present your findings, ideas, and projects effectively through written, visual, and digital means.
Research and Inquiry: Conduct research on the SDGs and gather relevant information to support your projects.
Reflection: Reflect on your learning experiences and consider how you can apply the skills and knowledge gained to future challenges.
Project Management: Plan, execute, and complete a project that contributes to one of the SDGs, managing time and resources effectively.
During this course we will guide you through activities inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals. Each lesson will focus on a specific SDG. Your job is to choose an SDG that inspires you and create a personalised booklet called ‘Be the Change’. Once your booklet is finished, you can upload it to the upschool library, order a copy and receive an amazing memento to remember your achievements.
To save time teachers will be able to download a meticulously crafted lesson plan, designed to be translated and adapted in accordance with local educational authority guidelines. These lesson plans are made available for teachers and parents to ensure they can tailor the learning experience to fit the specific needs of their students and the curriculum standards of their school.
Throughout this course, students will be encouraged to implement the SDGs they learn about into their own lives. They will reflect on how these goals can bring about positive change in their behaviour, relationships, and outlook on life.
Creating a Booklet Students will create a booklet summarising the key lessons they’ve learned, along with practical tips for others to follow. This booklet will serve as a guide to living a more thoughtful, ethical, and balanced life, inspired by the SDGs.
Students will create projects, such as designing posters, making products, or engaging in community service, that capture the essence of the SDG being studied. These creative projects will be included in the booklet and shared with others as part of the students’ contribution to making sustainable development ideas accessible to all ages.
