The Rock Cycle Fact Sheet

If you are familiar with the three types of rocks, you may be wondering, how does each type form?

Over the course of millions of years, rocks can actually transition from one type to another. While igneous rocks are initially formed by volcanoes, they can become sedimentary rock due to erosion. Similarly, sedimentary rocks can become metamorphic rocks after experiencing pressure or heat. As you can see, the three types are highly interconnected through the age-old process known as the rock cycle!
